Something called the casuals?
A bout a week ago, my dad decided to go up into the attic and search through for his old football collection. An hour and a half later up there he came down with boxes full of old football trophies and medals when he played for his local team in 1983-85. He even had hundreds of magazines which have dated all the way back to 1969.
Fascinated by all these old retro collection, my instinct told me to have a rummage through just to be nosy. To which I came across a book titled "casuals". At this point i was completely hooked by the image of a thug like character on the front page wearing a balaclava that I started to have a read. It turned out that the book was about how the evolution of football youth gangs created the ultimate camouflage and fashion secrete known as "casuals".
After reading through most of the chapters I was capitulated into the football fashion scene and wanted more people to know about it.
When you think about it, when you watch a football match, your all eager in excitement, wearing the shirt of your supporting team. But oh no! The world of football is a far bigger game than you could ever imagine.
After excessive research, I found the interesting fact that the fashion statement "casuals" was defined by the football hooliganisms in the North and London to have a good old tear up with rival teams. As to stop getting attention from the police or even recognised as football holligons, they decided to start wearing designer gear so that the police wouldn't realise who they were.
It turns out the likes of Tcchini, Adidas, lacost, fred perry, fila and Harrington jackets were the many among the labels worn by the so called football youth gangs.
